Shaw/Stewart is Minnesota’s sole, licensed DRICON® Fire Retardant Treated (FRT) wood source. We treat and kiln dry both dimensional lumber and plywood at our North Minneapolis yard.

Whether you’re using plywood or dimensional lumber, Dricon^® Fire Retardant Treated (FRT) wood has an unmatched record of protection against flame spread, smoke development, and rot. Dricon^® automatically reacts with the combustion gases and tars that are normally generated by untreated wood when it burns. It converts them to carbon char and harmless carbon dioxide and water. The surface char also acts to insulate underlying wood, and the carbon dioxide and water vapor dilute the combustible gases to reduce flame spread and smoke.

Dricon^® FRT wood carries a 40-year limited roof system warranty against heat degradation. It also offers the industry’s only preservative warranty on fire retardant wood backing and against termites and fungal decay.
